Family Treatment Programs Greensboro
Families need drug and alcohol recovery, too. Families play an integral part in the healing process and are directly affected by your loved one’s struggle with addiction. The long-term impact of stress, fear, and sadness can lead to frustration and a feeling of hopelessness, undermining your family’s foundation. Through education and support, we help you to restore self-respect, trust, and hope. With a new perspective, you can improve and strengthen relationships, offering your loved one greater support as everyone gets a fresh start in drug and alcohol recovery. When the meaningful people in an alcoholic or addict’s life are actively involved in the treatment process, the chance of recovery is significantly increased. For this process to occur, it is essential that those close to the alcoholic or addict receive education about the illness as well as support for their own recovery from its effects.
4-Day Family Therapy Program
Once your loved one enters treatment, you will be contacted about attending our 4-Day Family Therapy Program focused on helping you to understand substance use disorder while learning how to recognize co-dependency, set boundaries and goals, and build your own support system. This program includes group and individual therapy sessions.
The Family Therapy Program is designed to assist families with overcoming relationship obstacles created by addiction by building more fulfilling, healthy relationships. Over the course of four days, family members participate in individual, conjoint (family members with the guests in treatment), and group counseling, coupled with lectures, group discussions, and activities. The program provides a unique opportunity for families to gain a better understanding of addiction, the recovery process, communication skills, and setting boundaries, so that they can begin to heal from the effects of addiction. The Family Therapy Program operates weekly Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. One family member may attend the program at no charge; additional family members may participate for a tuition fee.
Upon completion of The Family Therapy Program, family members are invited to join the Family Early Recovery Group (ERG). ERG provides additional and ongoing support for the many transitions experienced during early recovery. ERG operates in 12-week cycles; family members may participate for up to two years, with a requirement to attend weekly Al-Anon or Nar-Anon meetings.
Family Education Workshop
If you’ve been wondering what substance use disorder really is and how to best help your loved one who is struggling, our Family Education Workshop can provide some answers. Offered on the first Friday of each month, the workshop is led by a licensed professional substance use therapist and is open to family and community members.
When the community is armed with accurate information about the disease of addiction, it is better equipped to offer support for both the family and their loved one who is struggling with addiction. Community members, from clergy and other spiritual advisors to co-workers and neighbors, law enforcement officers and doctors, are in a unique position to provide a base of support that could be pivotal to a successful and sustained recovery.
Our Family Education Workshop is designed for community and extended family members who are interested in learning about the impact that the disease of addiction has on every relationship, however close or seemingly removed. Through lectures and facilitated group discussions, participants receive in-depth education about addiction and the family recovery process. Workshop objectives are to help family members better understand codependency, enabling, and care taking; learn the benefits of honest communication and healthy boundaries; and introduce Al-Anon and Nar-Anon principles. The Workshop is held on the first Friday of each month from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for a reasonable tuition fee.
